Something I like

My Grandson has been here visiting at our house for nearly a month now, and today he will be going home.  This makes me sad for me but happy for him, he is looking forward to starting school and meeting up with his old school friends.

I opened my email this morning and there was a link to a video from Pintrest I thought this was a grand idea, but if somebody tried it on our street it'd be a jungle hahaha.

Trying something new for a change.  I don't know if this will work or not :)

May your day be filled with happiness!

Hummingbirds

Good Morning!

Today I would like to share some of my personal observations about hummingbirds.

We have a feeder hanging in front of my dining room window.  Each morning the first thing I notice during hummingbird season are my little neighbors teaching their baby how to do aerial reconnaissance.

He is hard to see but he is the little blur on the right side of the feeder

Mom and Pop swiftly get a few sips of sweet nectar while waiting on Junior to notice they have stepped out of the nest for a bit.

Some mornings they have to go insist their young offspring come join them, other mornings he seems eager for the day’s program.

Most of the time Junior looks like he’s either just rolled out of bed or maybe he is rebelling against Mom and Pops rules on good grooming – he’s a little scruffy looking. J

Somehow he manages to pull himself together each morning and he takes a seat on the learning perch, more formally known as a wire that used to hold another feeder.  After flicking his wing feathers a few times, and coming to attention he is ready for guard duty.

Ah, now we can have some fun!

Mom and Pop take turns flying up to the feeder then hover for a bit and pretend to get a drink.  Junior is supposed to notice they are there and try his best to send them on their way,  without losing any of his daily rations at the feeder.  Sometimes they appear together and the young guardian has to make a choice, he’s getting better at these games, but at times the adults lose him somewhere in mid air and return to the feeder before he does.

It doesn't take him long to catch up and he quickly re-joins the chase as soon as he sees them.  Mom and Pop are doing a great job teaching their little man his role!

I've watched this game for quite a while now, and just this morning noticed that Junior has become quite polished and well groomed.  I will be sad to see him leave the nest, but maybe next year he’ll be back with young of his own and I will get to see the process all over again.

I hope you enjoyed your visit, have a really lovely day!

Just A Tip To Share

I started thinking about some of the things I do to the rv that are a help to me in some way.  I thought I'd share one of them now.

We have a class A motorhome and even though we love it,  there are things about it that need a little help or personal touch.

One end of our couch touches the cabinet where the kitchen sink lives, there aren't any little tables or cup holders that are handy to the couch at either end so I found a little container with suction cups in Walmart that I think holds a bottle of shampoo and conditioner.

There is also a glass splash guard at the end of the sink and right next to the couch, this is handy for my purpose and yours too if you happen to have one like mine.  I "stuck" the plastic container to the glass with it's own suction cups.  I've never had it come off but I can easily remove it for cleaning when needed.

As you can see this makes a handy cup or remote holder.

I hope you find this a useful hint.  I've had this holder for a few years now so you may not find this exact one but I've seen others that are quite similar.

Thanks for reading, and have a nice evening!

Welcome

Welcome, glad to see you, come in and enjoy!

I love to go RVing, and I love doing special things in and to my little home away from home.  I hope to give you a tip or two along the way, enjoy your company, and tell you about some of our travels.

The first thing I should tell you is my DH is new to the retirement community, he retired this year and we immediately got in our motor home and traveled down to Key West.

What a beautiful place!  We were delighted to stay on the road for over a month and a half without the usual rush and push to return home or to a job.  DH and I have decided we are not suited to the full time rv living and for now are happy to take trips out and come back home to a stick and brick house.

Before getting to Key West we had to cross 42 islands and take a bridge or two, there were 7 miles of this bridge and the old one runs side by side.  Naturally I had to take it's picture :)

We did all the usual touristy things once we reached our destination in Key West and had a most amazing time, we visited The Little White House, took a sunset cruise on a glass bottom boat, and visited Ernest Hemingway's home.

We were amazed and amused by the roaming bands of roosters and chickens.  How fun to stop and while filling our gas tank side step the rooster who seemed to own the place.

Among all my favorite things about Florida, the sunsets are spectacular I will end this post with one of them.

Enjoy, and may you have a wonderful day!
